Update: A34 reopens after car transporter crash
4:18pm Tuesday 9th October 2012 in News By Chris Gregory
ALL lanes of the A34 near Whitchurch have reopened following last night’s car transporter crash.
The road had been closed since just after 11pm last night when a car transporter shed its load of Range Rovers after coming loose from a recovery vehicle and crashing into the central reservation.
Officers had closed the road from its junction with the A303 at Bullington Cross and the A343 at Tot Hill, Highclere, to carry out repairs to the road surface and 100m of barrier.
The road fully reopened to traffic just after 4pm today.
The driver of the recovery vehicle, a 29-year-old man from Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving with an insecure load and causing danger to other road users. He was bailed until November 26.
