ROBBERS snatched an elderly woman’s handbag in the car park of an Andover supermarket.
Police in the town are appealing for witnesses after the incident at about 8.30pm on Thursday, 4 October.
A 45-year-old woman was with her 71-year-old mother in the car park of Tesco, in River Way, when two unknown men walked behind them and stole the older woman’s handbag. The 45-year-old woman was holding the black leather handbag at the time.
Pc David Mills said: “This appears to have been an opportunist crime, but I would remind people to be vigilant when leaving supermarkets and unloading their shopping into their cars.
“If you saw anything suspicious on Thursday evening, please contact me. “Equally if you see anything suspicious that you’re concerned about, please call 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
The men are described as both being of a skinny build, about 5ft 8ins tall and wearing dark-coloured hooded-tops. One of the men had dark hair and a goatee-style beard and a long pointed nose.
Anyone with any information should contact Pc Mills at Andover Police Station on 101 or call Crimestopppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
