No evil in new orchard
VILLAGERS enjoyed an age old tradition to celebrate their new orchard.
Overton’s Community Orchard marked its first year last Saturday with a special day for residents.
Visitors could enjoy apple tasting, having a look around the orchard and buy cakes during the free event.
And the day culminated with a wassailing ceremony, where singers from a folk club took part in the ancient tradition to scare away evil spirits and ensure a good harvest in the future.
The community orchard also raised funds to buy more trees.
