Winchester charity secures new finance chief
A Winchester charity has recruited an experienced new treasurer.
Mike Davies has joined the board of Home-Start Winchester and Districts which supports families with young children.
He has lived in Winchester since 1988 and spent nine years as chief officer of Age Concern Winchester and four years as honorary treasurer of Winchester Combined Charities Card Society.
Mike, born in Wakefield, Yorkshire, also served 23-years in logistics in the Royal Navy and was last year made captain of Royal Winchester Golf Club, raising money for leukaemia and lymphoma research after his granddaughter was diagnosed with the disease.
Liz Cooper, Home-Start Winchester chairman, said: “We are delighted that Mike has joined the Home-Start team and know that he will make a valuable contribution to the work we do in the local community.
“We are always on the look out for caring volunteers who can spare a few hours a week to join us as trustees, particularly if they have a background in health, education, finance, HR, governance or business.”
