Flo Cross-es the 100-year mark
FLO Cross celebrated her 100th birthday with a party at her home surrounded by close friends and family.
Born on the 9 January 1913 in Middlesbrough, Flo moved to Wetherby, Yorkshire aged 12 before living in London, Southampton then Andover.
Flo lived in London during the Blitz, worked as a chef and manned static position guns during the war effort before moving to Andover with her husband Jack.
She is still known for her work at The Wellington Inn, owned by her daughter.
When asked her secret to a long life, Flo said: “Companionship, not being in debt and drinking a lot of tea! I’ve always been busy, you can get a lot done in 100 years.”
Dorothy Baverstock, mayor of Test Valley Borough Council, attended the party.
