Police appeal after accident on A34 at Bullington
3:24pm Monday 18th February 2013 in Andover
Police are appealing for information after a car overturned having come off the A34 at Bullington Cross north of Winchester.
At around 5.40am today (Monday, February 18) a blue Ford Mondeo travelling south on the A34 came off the carriageway, became airborne and landed on its roof on the slip road underneath the A34.
The driver, a 25-year-old man from Birmingham, had to be freed from the vehicle by fire crews. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with life threatening injuries to his head and spine and remains there in a critical but stable condition.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved. Closures and diversions were put in place and lifted around 11am.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Ford Mondeo driving prior to it. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Nigel Burt at Whitchurch Roads Policing unit, quoting Operation Marham, on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
