A NEW local fresh produce market is starting in Weyhill on 6 March, at Fairground Craft and Design Centre.
The market, which will be held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, aims to allow the public to meet and purchase from the growers and producers directly.
Organiser Mrs Sue Jones said: “At a time when every day seems to bring a new adulterated food scandal to light, people need to be able to know where their food is coming from.
“All of the stalls at the new fresh produce market come from a 20-mile radius of Weyhill, making it both environmentally friendly in reducing food miles and also a trustworthy source of quality food.”
All stallholders are small scale producers, some bringing their produce to market for the first time, so this is very much an enterprise in keeping with the ethos of the Fairground, which aims to support small local rural businesses.”
