YOUNG Andover people, aged between 14 and 24, are being encouraged to get involved in cultural activities with the setting up of a new Youth Panel.
The Edge Project will involve a group of young people meeting regularly and plan events, exhibitions and performances in relation to arts and culture.
The project is an initiative by Hampshire Museums and Galleries Trust which is also working in partnership with The Lights and Andover Museum to deliver a number of events throughout the year.
The aim of the project is to enable young people to have their say by run projects and events of their choice relating to museums, art centres, libraries, galleries and discovery centres.
Projects can involve all sorts of things including photography, music, theatre, performance, multimedia, filming, dance, DJing, graffiti and much more.
It is an opportunity to be creative, share ideas, learn new skills and meet new people.
The Andover panel will be named by the group and there is no cost to the young people involved.
Felicity Crabb, youth arts development manager for Hampshire Museums and Galleries Trust, said: “I am really pleased to bring the EDGE Project to Andover.
“As a young person myself I know what it is like to get bored.
“With this project you get the chance to try so many new things, gain loads of experience and make new friends.
“There is a wealth of potential in Andover and I am really keen to show this.
“we will be running public events that will not only bring together the community but also showcase the young talent that’s in Andover.”
If anyone wants more information about the Youth Panel, becoming involved or has suggestions for possible events call Felicity on 07540 930065 or email felicity.crabb@hants.gov.uk
