Electricity transmission company National Grid is advising motorists, businesses and residents that an abnormal load is due to be moved to and from Basingstoke and Southampton Docks over the weekend of Saturday 31 July to Sunday 1 August.

An electricity transformer weighing 175 tonnes is being replaced at National Grid’s substation in Bramley. This will involve the old one being removed and a new one being delivered. It will be carried on a 66-metre-long vehicle travelling between 4 and 25 mph under police escort.

The old transformer will be removed on Saturday 31 July at 9:30am with possible road disruptions until mid-day. The new transformer will be delivered to the substation at around 2:30pm on Sunday 1 August.
