Railway bridge demolished Railway bridge demolished

A WHITCHURCH railway bridge was demolished this weekend.

Newbury Road, which carries traffic over the Salisbury to Basingstoke railway line, was closed to traffic last month.

Diversions have been put in place and a temporary bridge has been installed over the railway to the east of the existing bridge for pedestrians and cyclists during the works.

It is hoped the road will reopen in May, but will be subject to off-peak closures until June
