Frozen lakes plea

POLICE are warning of the dangers of walking on frozen lakes following reports that children have attempted the dangerous feat in Andover.

Officers were made aware of children trying to walk on the frozen Charlton Lakes shortly after midday on Sunday (5). Fortunately, no-one was injured in the incident.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ (RoSPA) website states that in a recent 10-year period more than 20 people have drowned after falling through ice into water, while many others had to be rescued and revived.
