AN air ambulance landed in school playing fields after an incident in Andover.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed in the fields of Andover Primary School at 3pm today, as schoolchildren were heading home for the day.

The crew was attending an incident near the pedestrian crossing on Eastern Avenue, where a man and a car were involved in a collision just after 2.30pm.

Police and an ambulance also attended the scene and traffic was re-directed.

UPDATE 4.50pm - Police say a 50 year old man was airlifted to Basingstoke Hospital with head injuries.
