Views sought on council tax

POSTAL surveys will shortly be dropping through the letterboxes of approximately 4,000 doors in Test Valley in response to the Government’s council tax reforms.
Approximately 3,000 working age residents who receive council tax benefit will receive the survey as well as a further 1,000 who own a second home or empty property.
The survey will give residents the opportunity to respond to the Government’s plans to localise council tax benefit and reduce its level of funding as part of the wider benefits reform programme.
As the scheme concerns Test Valley’s local approach to council tax support, and proposed changes to certain exemptions and discounts, the council would like to receive views from all local residents.
The survey only takes a few minutes to complete and will help the council decide which option is right for the community.
Residents are encouraged to have their say before Monday, 12 November.
In addition to the postal survey, the consultation can also be viewed and completed online by visiting testvalley.gov.uk/aboutyourcouncil/ consultation-portal or a paper copy can be requested from the council offices.
