A MAN accused of receiving terrorist training at a Hampshire campsite was due to stand trial today.

Yassin Mutegombwa, 23, was arrested following an anti-terror operation that targeted an alleged network of terrorist recruiters.

It is alleged that Mutegombwa, of Upper Norwood, London, received terrorism training near the New Forest's Matley Wood caravan and camping site.

He denies three counts of receiving training for terrorism, an offence contrary to section six of the Terrorism Act 2006.

The first two charges relate to 2006 between April 28 and May 1 and between June 2 and 4, both near Matley Wood in Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst.

The third charge alleges that he received terrorism training near Portwood Farm, White Waltham, Berkshire, on June 18, 2006.

Mutegombwa's brother, Hassan Mutegombwa, 21, also from Upper Norwood, is also charged with one count of procuring funds for terrorism contrary to section 15 of the Terrorism Act 2000, which he denies.

The Crown alleges that on July 23, 2006, he "invited another to provide money and intended that it should be used, or had reasonable cause to suspect that it may be used, for the purpose of terrorism".

The trial was due to start at Woolwich Crown Court today.
