Party time as Honeycomb centre celebrates first anniversary

8:50am Tuesday 16th March 2010

A SURPRISE party marked the first anniversary of a Basing-stoke family drop-in centre.

The parents at Honeycomb Children’s Centre, in Chiltern Way, Buckskin, Basingstoke, threw the party to mark the birthday and say farewell to a popular member of the team.

Kilda Harrison, family support outreach worker at the centre, said: “We had a great time.

“The parents had organised a yummy birthday cake with ‘Happy Birthday Honeycomb’ on it, and everybody sat in our little pirate boat and sang happy birthday! It was a lovely atmosphere and we had about 50 families, who come to us on a regular basis, here including children.”

The party was organised as a surprise for manager Dennis Czech, who is due to leave on March 27. Miss Harrison, who has worked at the centre since it opened last January, said: “It was a way for the parents to say thank you. They are going to miss him.”
