A ROBBER threatened a man and took his wallet containing £160.

The 25-year-old victim was counting the cash in his wallet while walking along a Winklebury playing fields footpath, near the bridge to Houndmills, at about 11.55am yesterday when the man approached him and demanded he hand over the wallet.

PC Ross Edwards, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, has appealed for witnesses.

The robber, who ran off towards Winklebury, is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5ft 10in and of medium build. He wore a dark blue or black baseball cap and black T-shirt.

PC Edwards said: "We would remind people to look after their belongings and not make it obvious if they are carrying expensive items or large amounts of money."

Anyone with information can contact him on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
