RESIDENTS of an elderly people’s home have been reassured that it will be sold to another residential care provider.

Families of those living in Basingfield Court in Huish Lane, Old Basing, were told at a recent meeting that Sovereign Kingfisher was selling the home.

But it was unclear whether it would continue running as an old people’s home, leaving the 52 residents and their families in doubt about the future.

A statement from Phil Ball, assistant director – care and support for Sovereign Kingfisher, has said that the plan is to sell to another OAP home business.

He added the association had recently reviewed the range of care services it provides and decided that its priority was no longer to focus on offering residential care.

He said: “Sovereign Kingfisher is now planning to sell Basingfield Court to another first-rate provider of residential care.

“A key consideration as part of this process is to make sure that all staff keep their jobs and can TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment)) across to the new provider.

“Sovereign Kingfisher is also dedicated to making sure that current residents in Basingfield Court continue to receive high-quality care throughout this process.”
