A LANDLORD is settling in to his new surroundings after investing £100,000 in a South Warnborough pub.

Nathan Pass, 41, has reopened The Poacher Inn, in Alton Road, having taken over the lease in May.

The pub’s refurbishment included removing dividing walls and installing a new wooden floor.

He said: “It’s been good and we are getting busier and busier. It’s early days but we have had a lot of support from the village itself.”

Mr Pass is part of a group of four friends who decided to start their own company, running pubs in the south.

The group, which includes Miles Ellis, new head chef at The Poacher Inn, run The Walter Arms near Wokingham, Berkshire, and The White Hart near Guildford.

The landlord said: “We had always coveted this pub. When we first started looking around, it was on the market as well, but for our first pub it was a bit too small. It’s a beautiful building in a lovely village.”

A new menu has also been created, as the hostelry puts more emphasis on food.
