A COUPLE from Winchester has raised £12,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust after walking across Britain.
Jenny and Leonard Kirley completed a 1,000-mile walk from John O’Groats to Lands End at the end of July.
They had tackled the route once before, starting in Cornwall the first time, as part of their campaign to fund research into cystic fibrosis.
Their five-year-old granddaughter, Erin, suffers with the life-limiting condition, for which there is currently no cure.
The couple, aged in their 60s, from Fair Lane, No Man’s Land, near Winchester, hoped to raise £10,000 on their latest trip. However, early signs are that they have beaten the target, and generated £12,000.
