A Stockbridge school could bring in up to £15,000 after teaming up with The Southern Co-operative.

Stockbridge Primary School has signed up to Southern Co-op’s community store card (CSC) scheme.

Residents will be issued with a green community card which can be used when purchasing goods in Stockbridge Co-op.

Every time the card is swiped the High Street branch will contribute to a fund for the school at no extra cost to customers.

Headmistress Emma Jefferies said: “Our library is in desperate need of some care and attention and the funds raised in association with The Southern Co-operative are much needed to realise our ambitions. “Our new team of teachers at Stockbridge are passionate about reading success. If you can read, you can achieve; reading opens doors to new adventures, vital information and worlds that children have never experienced before. With the public's help, we can restock our library to reflect current books from new and well loved authors.”

Claire Walls, Southern Co-op retail business manager, added: “Following the kind invitation from the Friends of Stockbridge School to visit, it was exciting to see how this CSC fund could be spent enhancing the environment for the local children.

“We urge local people support our fundraising by picking up a green CSC card from Stockbridge Co-op and getting it swiped every time they shop here.”

The scheme was launched on September 21 at the school’s ‘September Sizzler’ fete.

Earlier this year Stockbridge’s Recreation Ground Trust and football club were awarded £15,000 from a previous CSC scheme.
