THE Honeypot Charity Carol Concert broke all records and raised over £14,500 when nearly 600 supporters attended the event at Winchester Cathedral on Monday (December 3).

The entertainment was provided by Central Singers' a choir made up of nearly 100 children from a Chichester Junior School and Gasp' The Bath University Gospel Choir.

The Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Chris Pines, provided a reading and Amy, a Honeypot child, reminded everyone there just how important Honeypot is to her and the lives of other very vulnerable children.

She said: "I have been looking after my mum since I was four and a half and I am now 11. I have been going to Honeypot for three years and I love it, it gives me a break and a chance to play and do things my mum can't do with me. I get a chance to be with my friends and activities I enjoy like swimming, and going to the farm because I love animals. I also enjoy basketball and making new friends, the thing I like the most is not having to do adult stuff, just being able to be a child."

This year Honeypot will have supported 800 children and a third of these children aged between five and 12 years old live in Hampshire. They are very vulnerable and 70 per cent are Young Carers, that is, the primary carer in their home, while others may be the victim of emotional or physical abuse.
