Delays on A34 after lorry lands on its side

LONG delays are expected on the A34 this morning (Thursday, May 15) after an articulated lorry went on its side on the carriageway in the early hours.

The incident happened between Whitchurch and Bullington Cross at the junction with the A303 before 4.30am and one lane of the southbound carriageway will be closed all morning.

One lane is still open, but police hope to close both lanes off at around 10am to recover the vehicle, which will take at least an hour.

Update: Both lanes of the A34 were reopened at 10.30am this morning and traffic is now back to normal. Police say they do not believe the driver was injured in the crash.
