Prince Charles to hand out RAF medals in Hampshire
THE Prince of Wales will present medals and commendations to servicemen and women when he visits Hampshire today.
Charles, who is Air Chief Marshal of the RAF, will present the campaign medals and commendations to personnel at RAF Odiham who have recently returned from operational deployments.
He will also meet the recipients and guests and other station personnel during a reception.
RAF Odiham is home to The Chinook Wing of the RAF.
It supports three operational squadrons - No 7 Squadron, No 18 Squadron and No 27 Squadron - and the Operational Conversion Flight.
In recent years these squadrons have seen a number of operational tours to Afghanistan and Iraq in support of British and Nato forces.
Chinooks from the base are currently serving in Afghanistan.
Last month, Prince William caused controversy when he flew a Chinook from Odiham to his girlfriend Kate Middleton's home in Berkshire and also to the Isle of Wight to attend his cousin Peter Phillips' stag weekend.
The RAF defended the flights, saying they were part of the Prince's training with the RAF.
