Chance to quiz candidates

ROMSEY is to host its own version of the BBC’s Question Time and the town’s chamber of commerce is behind the event.

Pre-Election Question Time as it’s been dubbed will have all candidates for the Romsey and Southampton North seat standing at the next General Election on the panel.

This includes the sitting Lib Dem MP Sandra Gidley, Conservative candidate Caroline Nokes, Labour’s Aktar Beg, the UKIP’s John Meropoulos and Chris Bluemel from the Green Parry are taking part in the debate chaired by BBC South’s political editor Peter Henley. The Question Time at Romsey Town Hall is on Friday March 19 between 7pm and 9pm.

Looking forward to the event President of Romsey and District Chamber of Commerce Ruth Gower-Smith said: “This is an exciting time for Romsey. We know that the general election is upon us and this gives us the ideal opportunity to ask all the candidates their views on any of the burning issues that we have.. Romsey is one of the most closely contested seats in the country, so it is very important that we have this debate to ensure that everyone is clear about what they are voting for.

“When I speak to people in Romsey, it is clear that there are many fixed views about what is right for the town and surrounding areas. This question time event will give us the chance to explore all the different arguments and alternative solutions to the same problems. Allowing everyone to make informed decision knowing the choices that are on offer.”

Tickets are available for the event, on a first come, first served basis. Contact the chamber to pre-book a seat on 01794 513135 or email info@romseychamber.co.uk for more details. Alternatively contact the chamber at 18 Market Place, Romsey.

Will Shari Lewis be operating Mrs Nokes or will she be on daddy Roy Perry's knee

Perhaps if you turn up you'll find the lady has more to her than you seem to give credit - but you don't seem to give much credit to anyone! Pity Johnny Craddock isn't still around - he might compare you to Fanny!

Thanks Ilkley Moor
My objection is why someone should get a place in Parliament by default and apathy. She has no talent or experience apart from seeing an easy meal ticket by fringing in politics. She certainly didn't get nominated without a lot of insiders help or for her command of coherent ideas and speech.
Oh yes, I will be there to ridicule her
- if there is the chance

You sure you're not describing the current MP there, Dodger?

You've obviously never met the Conservative candidate, but you'll see how wrong you are on Friday!

Sorry I do not shop in Waitrose so how would I meet her - Havn't seen her in the Rockingham either.

You shouldn't be sorry that you don't shop in Waitrose - count yourself lucky - with bonuses of 15% for JLPartners that explains their prices!

Only person I've seen of note in the Rockingham is Romsey's REAL red-head, Charlie Dimmock!

There's a thought - if Esther Rantzen wants to stand further afield, how about Charlie for the Greens in Romsey?
