TWO more restaurants are planned for Romsey.

Test Valley planners have received applications to redevelop the old Palmerston cafe and bakery in the Market Place and re-open the building as a coffee bar/restaurant.

The proposals include demolishing a single storey extension to the rear of the premises and replace it with a new structure to house a kitchen, restaurant and seating area.

An outdoor seating area is also planned to the replacing an existing yard that was used for storage at rear of the building.

The applicant John Allen says his proposals include employing two full-time and part-time staff. The proposed opening hours are 7.30am until 10pm Monday to Friday, 7.30am until 8pm on Saturdays and 9am until 6pm on Sundays.

And there’s also an application to convert Demi’s old shop, also in the Market Place, into a restaurant. Knight Architects of Southampton are acting as client’s for the applicant.

However, the town is set to lose one eatery as planners have also received an application for a change of use at The Courtyard café and bed and breakfast in the Hundred.Applicant, Deborah Babidge wants to use the building for residential purposes only.
