ARSONISTS targeting rubbish and wheelie bins at North Baddesley are putting people’s lives at risk.
That’s the view of the police who are investigating a spate of attacks in the village. In the latest incident, wheelie bins near homes at Thomas Road and Rownhams Lane were set alight, leaving Test Valley’s environment and health department with a £710 bill for replacements.
Firecrews were called to two separate wheelie bin blazes in Rownhams Road shortly before midnight on Thursday of last week.
Shortly afterwards, firefighters attended another arson attack at Thomas Road, where a communal bin store had been torched. Three wheelie bins inside were destroyed and the storage shed badly damaged.
West Hampshire police spokes-man, Alan Smith, said the bin fires were a serious matter and warned that whoever was responsible would face a stiff penalty, when caught.
He appealed for information about the incidents and added: “What’s happening has the potential to endanger the lives of others and they are putting themselves at risk.
“Arson is a serious crime and arson with intent is a very serious offence.”
There have been other suspicious blazes in North Baddesley involving woodland and grassland recently.
