A NEW pizza parlour in Romsey could create up to 35 jobs.
Domino’s Pizza has submitted an application to Test Valley Borough Council to open a store at the town’s Dukes Mill, in premises formerly occupied by Italian restaurant, Ruscello.
Previous planning applications by Domino’s to open stores at Bell Street and the Plaza Parade were both rejected by Test Valley councillors after neighbours adjoining the proposed sites raised concerns about potential noise and disturbance late at night.
A spokesman for Domino’s Pizza said: “We continually research and review locations across the country in which to open new stores and we have identified Romsey as having great potential for pizza and have submitted a planning application for a new store at Dukes Mill. The unit is currently empty and we are very keen to bring it back to life if our application is successful.”
Domino’s spokesman added that it would be a jobs boost for the town.
“Opening a new store in Romsey would generate around 25 – 35 new jobs for local people and it would be operated as a franchise,” said the spokesperson, who added: “Domino’s Pizza takes its role as a responsible neighbour very seriously and our franchisees work very hard to play an active role in the community, not only by delivering great tasting pizza, but also by supporting numerous local charities, groups and events.”
The company already has 720 outlets in the UK and Ireland.
