Gillico prepared to pay £12.5m for Southampton Football Club

YET another bidder has joined the race for Saints.

Reports suggest that Yorkshire based firm Gillico are prepared to spend £12.5m on buying Southampton Football Club.

Gillico have not completed due diligence and it is firmly believed that the both the Swiss consortium and the Worldwide Financial group are still the two front runners.

Very little is known about Gillico, who appear to have only been formed the day Saints' parent company went into administration.

Administrator Mark Fry, said in a statement: "We currently are very confident that a sale will be achieved and that this process will be concluded very shortly.

"In relation to information regarding new interested parties, we are now in an unusual situation whereby we are receiving offers from a number of other parties very late in the day, but are committed to getting the transaction completed with our current buyer.

"We are pleased that the Directors of the Football Club were able to take action that has enabled the staff to be paid for last month and once again would like to thank the Club and its staff for their continued support and patience."

C. Gallico (Lowe)
D. Marc Jackson
E. Worldwide Financial group

yet none of them can get their act together to stagger cross the finish line.

You have to laugh! The fact that Gillico rhymes with Lowe made me laugh out loud. But in fairness it's about as logical as everything else that people are coming out with. ;-)

Maybe it's an anagram of "aliens from alpha centauri are taking us over and will vapourize all earthlings that attend the first match" ... er um perhaps not.. too many letters.

So come on then .. where are all the fake insiders who know everything about Gillico ...

I can tell you as FACT that the bloke who sits next to me at work is married to someone who lived near my mother when I was a boy and she has definitely never heard of Gillico but did have a friend called Gillian, so therefore Lowe must be involved... or not.

I'm going to miss this on line drivel when it's all over.

And Gillico obviously isn't an acronym any more than it is an anagram - unless it's in the language of small (or large) green homocidal aliens from Alpha Centauri of course.

As a passing question can someone with some knowledge of how this all works explain to me how this club can be bought for £12.5 million ? The mortgagors of the ground will obviously take a hit along with all the other creditors but I'm sure I'm not alone in trying to understand how this price is calculated and justified.

Ok...firstly i am going 2 say well done to e_z _tiger for finally talking sense...you guys have to start actually supporting your team and not putting them down. Lowe is GONE... I repeat GONE, and yet you still seem to say he is the person to blame for everything happening now. The fact saints are now in league 1 is mostly your fault. I came to a game once and remember having people sitting behind me in a box, hurling abuse and swearing at their own team. To begin with, i thought they were supporters of the opposing team but then was appalled to see they weren't.The fact you start jeering your own team when they miss a ball, or go completely silent when a goal is scored is abosuletly terrible. You need to get off your high horse and start realising your mistakes and rectifying them. Worrying about someone who is long gone is completely ridiculous, bearing in mind that the club could still go out of business altogether. Quite frankly, I think your measly protest against Rupert Lowe was pathetic, and just hilighted your stupidity and insanity. YOU sat there, in silence, watching your team go out of the Championship, and congratulations, because you are partly to blame for this happening. You only have to look at your counterparts, Portsmouth, who are hardly the richest team in the world. They have survived where YOU haven't simply because of their fans incredible support. You want to take a leaf out pf their book. Just look in the mirror won't you, and see the pathetic little people you really are.

I agree but it's a pointless argument. The demonstrations, the lack of support for the team, the boycott were all designed to do one thing - as those who orchestrated it kept telling us - to drive the club into administration and get rid of Lowe.

The advice that administration might either see the end of the club or the re-emergence of Lowe in a different guise was laughed aside.

Let's hope the new board (please, anyone), the manager and the team get a fraction of the support we used to in the old third division. And then the team might want to play again.

Another dawn in NZ as we hurry up and wait for news.

This is the best news we can get though at this stage.

Mark Fry is confident of an imminent sale but has plenty of back up options. That's great.

Saints sound secure. Players are returning with some confidence.

Mark Wotte sounds buoyant and positive with players returning.

I for one am getting really keen on the season ahead. Just can't wait to hear news of which of the two bidders at the table completes.

Who is the Swiss Group and we still know nothing of the second foreign consortium. Not a solitary word even from those that claim to be staff at St Marys that have constantly fed us inane rubbish throughout this process.

I don't mind because their confidentiality proves their professional business like manner which is the total opposite of the local bids which blew smoke in our faces and led to so much false hope.

Go for it Mark Fry and bidders.. if you get it done today (It's Saturday already here) you'll make my weekend and those boys on the field will want to give Eastleigh a good hiding..

Saints United.. UP UP UP

I have no desire to read this anymore! I get random sky texts so when/if we're bought I'll know pretty much straight away! I don't know what possessed me to constantly refresh this page lol, bye all!

I had a dream last night that Grahan Le Saux was appointed manager of the Saints. Well this is more beleivable than everything else that has happened over the last few weeks.

On the positive side it is promising that Stern John want's a new contract and that Graham Murty is training with us. Both would be good signings for league 1. As for Kelvin Davis is he stumbling over a move to West Ham because he knows something is iminent at Saints? Good news!

Two people have come out with credit over the last few weeks, Mark Wotte for his dedication and professionalism in dire circumstances and Leon Crouch for continually dipping into his own pocket to bail out the Saints. Despite having huge respect for Leon as a fan I do not think he has Chairman potential. Sorry!

No.

Everything is going fine. Sounds very like we'll have secure new business like owners by Monday night or before. The panic does seem over according to Mark Fry who now has lots of options and bidders at the table. Looks like Swiss Group or The World Group in the lead and even if Pinnacle came in with cash up front I doubt is Fry would elevate them back up the queue.

So it's all good. Soon we'll all have to start wondering who the new owners will spend money on. Pitch talk will be fun after this lot.

The administrator Mark Fry has just made a statement to www.southampton-mad.
co.uk
"Since our update last week we have continued in our discussions with a number of parties in relation to an acquisition of the football club," said Fry.

"We currently are very confident that a sale will be achieved and that this process will be concluded very shortly.

"In relation to information regarding new interested parties, we are now in an unusual situation whereby we are receiving offers from a number of other parties very late in the day, but are committed to getting the transaction completed with our current buyer."

"Last week I was very concerned for the club's future following the failure to complete by the then proposed purchaser, but this week has been much more positive and as said we believe a sale is close to completion."

"Now I can take my brown trousers off"!

Is this his way of concluding/celebrati
ng the sale of our club to the swiss ????????

Sorry to rain on the parade, but, did not Fry say something similar last week over the Pinnacle bid? Also Fri was dead line day, as opposed to all the other deadline days, last chances, and sundry statements from Fry. Does this bloke hava a clue?

It's well past being stupid now. Just get on and sell the B***y Club. So we can settle down, and enjoy (?) the new season.

Well after feeling suicidal last week, it looks like more positive news is round the corner.

What bemuses me with the whole scenario is that supporters haven’t been more critical of Fry. He has made grave mistakes in the whole process of selling Southampton Football Club (ie Exclusivity agreements, all eggs in one basket!! Etc.).

A lot have people have stuck up for Fry and his mickey mouse company. But personally having experienced Begbies Traynor at first hand (as they dealt with a company I used to work for going into administration), It wouldn’t surprise me if he had deliberately dragged his heels on the deal. I know for a fact that when in administration even admin staff are charged at over £100 pound per hour, Fry must be getting charged at least £250 per hour (which is guaranteed, even from donators money). It begs (pardon the pun) the question, would you drag the sale out if you were being paid that extortionate rate?

Apologies for the negative post, but I have experience of “Blagbies Trailing” at first hand, and my impression was they didn’t know there arse from their elbow, yet they still walk away with around £20k, to wind up a £7 million turnover company in one week!!

I think you'll find that they are all pretty much the same. Huge fees for 'fire-selling' a business and 'managing' it in the interim. Not answerable to anyone, brass necks and massive egos.
