Liebherr first in the ticket queue

Markus Liebherr will buy the first season ticket for Saints’ forthcoming campaign when they go on sale this morning.

The Swiss billionaire will be followed by acting chief executive Nicola Cortese and chief operations officer Andy Oldknow.

Saints have been unable to put season tickets, or indeed tickets for the Ajax friendly a week tomorrow, on sale until a takeover was completed. But that all changes today.

Supporters are being promised at least a ten per cent reduction on last season’s March madness renewal prices, and in many cases a bigger saving.

The club will also announce an array of new age brackets.

The box office at St Mary’s will be open from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, and 9.30am-4pm on Saturday, and it has taken on extra staff to cope with the anticipated demand. The booking line will be open from 8.30am-7pm. The online booking facility will be open 24/7.

Season ticket holders from last season will have until 5pm on Friday, July 31, to renew their seats.

Season ticket holders will also be entitled to one free ticket to the Ajax friendly, due to be Liebherr’s first at St Mary’s, though the club cannot guarantee it will be their season ticket seat.

Tickets for the Ajax game cost adults £10, young adults/juniors £5, seniors/12 and under free.

Oldknow said: “Getting tickets back on sale has been one of our priorities since arriving at Southampton. We want to thank the fans for their continued support of the Club during a difficult time.

“This is the start of an exciting new era for Southampton and we hope our fans will again turn up in their numbers to support the team”.

Hopefully realistic for the league we are in. I think the best thing the club can do is work to filling the stadium as much as possible. they probably won't succeed unless the season tickets are reasonable.

Markus Liebherr just get's better and better.

1st He buys the club.

2nd Almost Instantly get's rid of the of the weak manager.

3rd Gives fan's a 10% reduction on season tickets.

4th Lets the pensioners and kids in for free for the Ajax game.

Not bad in three days, he seems to be getting to be getting everything spot on.

Markus Liebherr magician or is he really reading this website?

Who cares so far so bloody good.

I might even go down the bookies and wager that Sir Alex Ferguson will be next Saints manager. Lol

I haven't been this excited about the club since the Cup Final against Arsenal.

Looking forward to seeing which players we're going to get in once we get a decent manager. Has to be one of Strachen, Shearer, Fergie junior(we'd have a better chance to get good loanies from Utd).

No more (rap ones please. Branfoot, Wigley, Sturrock, Portaloo

However Lallana said he wont be there because he is desperate for a transfer the jumped up little git.

Anyway on the season ticket side I am very happy with the prices and will be renewing today. And free seniors/kids for Ajax, tell me another club in the country that would do free tickets for a friendly like that! Rupert Lowe would have charged £30! COYR

Now all we need is a sensible website where the progress of the team and players and all other things to do with the Saints can be discussed by people who go to games, are club members or have season tickets you know people who actually support the Saints and make statements based on what they have seen on the pitch.

Plus can we start giving lessons on how to recognise a bl00dy good footballer when one is on the pitch. I despair of some of the nonsense that gets written on here.

Perry is a very good defender. His timing of tackles and reading of the game are excellent and he will be a real asset in this league.

You make some good points there but i think you are way out with Kelvin. Don't forget we are a league 1 side, not prem. Kelvin will be bar far the best league 1 keeper and did a fantastic job for us last season.

I agree with the making St Marys a fortress, some music, drums and much more singing from the crowd is needed.

Last season, it was a book of vouchers, on per match. You used to get free bus tickets, but that was dropped for 08/09. £288 is a bargain. I'd already made my mind up to renew after the buy-out, contradicting my opinion as I walked out of SMS last match this year

Well done and thank you to the new owners. This is indeed a new dawn for Saints and the fans have a lot to repay. Lets get behind the whole club from the new management and staff through to the 1st Team.

I don't want to hear one more person make a negative comment about our loyal, experienced and number 1 keeper Davis. He is fantastic and will prove himself once again if need be to his doubters. I was one of those previously when we were relegated from the Premiership. But I will not make the same mistake again.

If we were to appoint Strachan as manager again I would not make the same mistake there either as I was not one of his biggest supporters when he came to Saints but he turned me round and the whole club!

I hope Le Tiss is consulted and if so I will support whoever gets the job. It's not worth criticising the team before they have even played a game under the new ownership and management!

Why do people keep putting Le Tiss up as a some sort of manager/consultant?

As a player he will be etched foever in the annals of Saints history. He scored some of the finest most skillful goals ever recorded.

If he was put in charge of skills developent with young players I would be the first to agree.

But if you are talking about the management of the business or even the team then what credentials in that area does he have? None.

Cast you minds back people, his England career was cut short because he used to drift out of games and wasnt considered a team player.

Blinding brilliance from time to time was not matched with consistency. We all knew that at the time. He was the player "who always caused you problems when picking him and even more if you were playing against him!" as someone said.
I recall the frustration that we all used to feel during those sometimes lengthy periods when he went off the boil. Then he would sparkle for a few weeks and we forgave him. Rightly so.

My point is that he is a hero, always will be. But should he be anywhere near the running of this club. No !!

I'd just like to say thank goodness we have a rich Engineer who owns the club, not some beancounter. The Leibherr family worked out it was better to be innovative & clever, rather than look at balance sheets. I think the ticket price is a real incentive, as is the dangle of the Ajax match. Thank you. Someone who looks years ahead is in charge of the club, not the guy who is worrying about the dividend in three months time.
Agree about Le God. Not a businessman but a legend here. Some role would be good, not in the management of the club though.

If you by any ticket to any match you are put on the clubs data base.
