Saganowski told he has no future at Southampton

More stories about: Marek Saganowski

ALAN Pardew has admitted there is no place for Marek Saganowski in his vision of Saints.

The Polish international has not even made the bench over the past couple of months.

That is a far cry from his desperation to move on from Saints in the summer to protect his international career.

Pardew has been keen to trim down his squad, but that has not proved easy.

Saganowski is one player who is not in Pardew’s long term plans and will be sold – if he can find himself another club.

Pardew said: “Saganowski’s career is elsewhere from here at this time.

“It’s pretty evident to him because he hasn’t been on the bench and he is doing everything he can to find himself a club.

“The climate is not easy at the moment for any player, whether you are a non-league player or an international player, to get a club that is willing to take any more personnel.

“It’s difficult for him and I feel for him because he’s been good and proper around the training ground every day and he’s not caused me one problem.

“But I don’t see him in my vision and therefore we are looking, and he is looking, for a club.”

His wage isn't a problem. The problem lies in his attitude and immense desire to leave the club during the summer. He shot himself in the foot.

He wanted to leave before the season started and made that clear, so no sympathy for him at all he should have kept his mouth shut got his head down and played football. We are a club going places lets see where he ends up, think he might regret his actions.

At the end of the day he would have played for Saints had he been able to score goals...but he can't do it in this division so is well passed his best. He doesn't have the pace or the intelligent movement that Connolly possesses.

Saints need another quality striker in the mould of Ricky...Patterson needs to be loaned out as well to see if he can cut it...

i am not saying that his wage is a problem, but obviously it would be good to not be paying a player that we do not want nor wants to be here. he is after all a waste of resorces and he is one of the top erarners as well!

Yes. He stopped playing well as soon as his initial loan period finished and we signed him on permanently. Rather a large waste of space and money I'd say

Fair play to him. When he first came to Saints he had a point to prove and looked an asset. His goals that first season helped Saints do well and also got him the move he said he desired.

Since then he has unfortunately got lazy and arrogant and decided, like Rasiak, that he was too big for this club. Truth is that he is too big for this club looking at the size of him now!!! He looks like a Sunday morning player that can't even reach his boots to do them up!!

Good luck to him but the Saints juggernaut has no extra seats I'm afraid!

Agree about Saga, he is past his best, didn't exactly put a shift in for the Reserves v Bristol City on Monday either, so his heart just isn't in it.

Do think that Saints need another quality striker, but don't underestimate young Paterson, he is a very good talent and if he didn't have the likes of Lambert, Papa, Connolly and Adam in front of him would be playing first team football now. If he's not involved much after Christmas think he will go out on loan then.

Saga had the chance to go to Notts County - probably thought it was beneath him.

I have some sympathy for Saga. Who knows what personal circumstances were behind his apparent disillusion? It was a thankless task being a target man for the naive and uncreative team we used to have, and the saints crowd is typically unforgiving; we cannot expect non-local players to have allegiance other than to the players they find themselves with, and a manager's style of football, rather than the club.

I think it will always be a case of what might have been for Saga.

Somepeople have a winning mentality that fits with their ability.

Unfortunalty the Saga had great ability but low expectations and a poor work ethic.

In the end the memory wont be of his first 10 games, his partnerships with Bale and Surman but and a few special touches. It will be of a slightly overweight player constantly running into cul-de-sac's and some pretty embarrassing dives.

He's only got himself to blame, the fat useles lazy Pole. He could have been (perhaps should is more like it) one of the best strikers in this division. He could have played with us til Jan, scoring shed loads of goals, propelling us up the league, and putting himself in the shop window if he so desperately wanted to move. He'll probably bugger off back to Poland. Anyway, no great loss. As others have mentioned, since he got his contract, he's been useless!!!

In the article Alan Pardew says "he’s been good and proper around the training ground every day and he’s not caused me one problem." Which is showing a tad of commitment, What i reckon AP should do is give him a run out 20 mins maybe within the next few games to see if he can cut it in league one, and maybe a BIG maybe if hes starts scoring and hes enjoying his football we may be able to keep him.

This is great news. Saga is a financial migrant who is only interested in his next deal. When he was a loan player he was excellent for saints but as soon as the deal was signed he just sat back and took the wage. This unfortunately is too common in football now players who just sponge of the clubs with little interest in giving 100% effort on the pitch. Goodbye Saga the Saints will not miss you. Infact we should have a whip around for his flight out of Southampton

Saga's agent is the toss pot. The laugh is that Rasiak Gillett and others got deals but he is now stuck unwanted anywhere and will have to bite the bullet and start his career from the bottom.

More of Interest from the Boss are his pre-match comments. "Play like last week and we'll get beat" "Unsatisfied with 0-0 he'd rather have 5-4 to us"
He is expecting them to play diamond with an a good technical player behind the strikers making up an excellent strike force.

I wouldn't have a clue what to expect from Pards but it sounds like he's upbeat and positive. I just hope he hasn't over worked them.

I'm expecting and unchanged line up but this time the backs will have had a big wake up call.

Questions asked.. will Mellis and Holmes get on and will Murts get on the bench. Mills is his prefered left side player but Holmes is the best corner taker and the best crosser we've got... he also defends well when back. Murts for half hour could really help out but it's too early.. Would like James up ..Morgan has run out of chances for me.. would like a proper left footer in the left corner to get decent crosses in and to take corners.
front six:
Ants James Lallana Hamma Holmes or Mills
Lambert

(decent bench)

I do feel for poor old Marek, because him and Kelvin nearly single handedly kept us up last year. So I feel for him, but we have Lord Richie, Connolly, Paterson, Lallana can play a more attacking role, and Kayne McLaggon come back from injury, so he is 4th or 5th choice at the moment with a League One club not amazing news if he wants to be playing International football. So he will have to probably look elsewhere for first choice football, and it would help our wages even though we have Lord Markus' generious money. Marek it has been a pleasure having you as a striker over these 3 seasons. You have been a fan favourite ever since you got here, where we can't say that for some other players. I would love to see you playing first team football with a new club hopefully in England still, so we still hear your progress.

I blame his greedy agent and his failure to take chances under Pards who did give him several with the first team.. he didn't work hard enough and was too sluggish for Pards plans.

Kayne got fit and has been loaned out.

Pards said it all in very few words this week.. "play last last week and we'll lose." .. Rickie is over his flu and hopefully trots and Kelv will be over the announcements of last week and can concentrate on Norwich..

Much more worried about getting the train back on the rails this week.
Good Luck to Dean and the lads we must make it 7pts from 4 games or kiss the ladder chase bye bye if it isn't gone already.. Anyone worked out the maths and odds?

Marek will have to start fresh to prove his worth and good luck to him elsewhere.. he won't be the only one we'll shift soon and it's just business.

Instead we lost Surman who would have stayed. But because if he didn't leave the club it would of been dead. We needed his money to pay the club wages.
Yes he went to the premiership, but home is where your heart is and to lose a player like that is a tragedy.
