ALAN Pardew has called on his Saints side to “build and keep strong” after they climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time this season with a 1-0 home win against Wycombe.
It was a scrappy match at St Mary’s, settled by a single first half strike from Rickie Lambert.
But the most important thing for Saints was moving out of the bottom four.
It has been a long road to get there after overturning the ten point deduction with which they started the season, but now they are able to look onwards and upwards.
Pardew said: “It’s very important for us because it gives us a target of mid-table and how quickly can we get to mid-table.
“The last 16 or 17 games we’ve been probably as good as anyone in the division with the exception probably of Leeds.
“Now is a time to build and keep strong."
