RANGERS eventually won a thrilling Basingstoke A Cup tie at Brighton Hill, but what a fight it was in an end-to-end battle against visiting Tron.
The home side took a two goal lead in the opening 10 minutes thanks to goals from Steve Woodhams and Paul Oliver.
Mike Durden hit back for Tron on 15 minutes from a Matt Wilson ball and then levelled as he headed home a Gareth Cooke corner.
Durden then hit the bar twice before he managed to find the net to complete his hat-trick and give Tron a 3-2 lead early in the second half.
Rangers were given a harsh looking penalty, which saw Oliver’s initial strike saved by Jason Charles, but he put away the rebound and scored again to make it 4-3. Tron’s Durden hit the post, before Rangers netted through Paul Ralph to complete a 5-3 victory.
AXA Winterthur, Headley Athletic, R & B Sports, Kingsclere and Welly Old Boys also recorded wins in the Basingstoke A Cup on Saturday.
