FOOTBALL: Hampshire League 2004 - Upham 3, Four Marks 0

2:52pm Saturday 9th September 2006

Allwood brace sees Upham on the rise.

Upham put in a strong team performance to take all three points against league newcomers Four Marks.

The game started evenly with chances at both ends. Upham then settled with some good passing moves, and were rewarded on 11 minutes when Leigh Bishop fed the ball forward to Stuart Creese who flicked it on to Wes Allwood who finished from 16 yards off the inside of the upright.

Upham had to withstand some strong pressure from Four Marks just before the break but held on to lead 1-0 at the interval.

Upham started to dominate after the break, and went 2-0 up on 54mins when Allwood picked up the ball from a free-kick and lobbed the ball over a defender for Creese to score with a well taken header.

Upham were now dictating the play with both Glen Nicol and Phil Hastings coming close and Aaron Brown was unlucky to see his free kick come back off the post.

Upham then made it 3-0 when Brown and Allwood combined well on the left, Allwood beat several defenders and showed great control to regain the ball and score after his initial shot had been blocked.

Upham substitute Pedro Balgazar had a great chance to make it four just before the end, but after rounding the keeper, was denied by a last ditch tackle.
