Hampshire Royals will play Northants in tonight's Plate final after losing by seven wickets to the Yorkshire Vikings in the Barbados Cup
A 45-ball 42 from Michael Carberry was in vain as the Royals suffered a seven-wicket defeat.
Carberry’s 51-run third-wicket partnership with Sean Ervine (11 and 1-26 off 3 overs) looked to have put the Royals in a commanding position with the score at 74-3 when the Zimbabwe-born all-rounder left the field in the 14th over.
But, despite a quick 16 from new signing Michael Roberts, Hampshire’s total of 112-6 never quite looked like it would be enough.
Andrew Gale reached 43 before being stumped by Michael Bates - who was preferred to new signing Adam Wheater - off Danny Briggs (1-25 off 4 ovs).
Defeat was confirmed when Rich Pyrah (22 not out) struck a six with three overs to spare.
Northants lost to Nottinghamshire by 92 runs in their qualifier, and take on Hampshire at 8pm UK time.
Hampshire: Carberry, Vince, Adams, Ervine, Dawson, Roberts, Bates, Briggs, Griffiths, Sheppard, Riazuddin
