Hamble are five-goal hockey stunners
7:10am Wednesday 14th November 2012 in Hampshire Sport
Hamble’s Giles Matthews in possession.
THREE goals in a stunning opening 12 minutes pointed Hamble to an easy 5-0 win over H a m p s h i re / S u r re y Regional League Division 2 rivals Salisbury.
It was the latter’s fourth successive defeat on the road – and one that was always going to happen after Hamble’s great start.
Hamble scored twice in the opening minutes – Nick Williams from a penalty corner deflection and then a Giles Matthews effort – and might have run riot but for goalkeeper Greg Rideout, who pulled off a string of fine saves.
Coach Brian Hiscock, a Trojans legend in his playing days, cut a lonely and often angry figure in the visitors’ technical area as his charges continually conceded possession in midfield and consequently became over-run by a rampant Hamble side chasing only a second win of the autumn term.
