Lay-off no problem for Tadley Calleva
4:00pm Friday 8th February 2013 in Hampshire Sport
TADLEY Calleva returned to action after a month off and enjoyed an excellent 3-2 victory at Fleet Spurs in the Wessex League Division One on Tuesday night.
The visitors opened the scoring from an own goal after 20 minutes and then had further chances through Scott Kinge and Brett Denham.
The one way traffic continued and Tadley made it 2-0 when Denham’s cross was put away by Kinge as the ball looped over the home goalie.
Fleet pulled a goal back before the break, but Denham, with a lovely finish, made it 3-1 as he beat the Spurs ’keeper one-on-one.
Tadley boss Danny Dolan said: “Scott Kinge was inspirational in the middle of the park and was excellent box to box, in what was another good team performance.”
This Saturday (kick-off 3pm), Tadley entertain second placed Team Solent and Dolan is keen to see his side take a top-four scalp.
Then, on Tuesday night, Tadley will be looking to be giant killers as they travel to Wessex Premier leaders Alresford for a North Hants Senior Cup semi-final tie.
Whitchurch United manager Jim Macey felt it was two points dropped as they drew 1-1 with visiting Andover New Street on Tuesday night, also in Division One.
The home side got off to a good start after Paul Coventry was felled in the area and Sam Argent tucked away the penalty.
The home side were then guilty of missing seven one-on-ones and paid the price as the visitors scored a late equaliser.
Macey said: “It was very frustrating as we had so many chances and they had just a couple of chances.”
’Church face a visit from bogey side Ringwood on Saturday (3pm) and then travel to Pewsey Vale.
