Former Gunner set for a Sharpe showdown
3:30pm Friday 8th February 2013 in Hampshire Sport By Echo Reporter
SUPPORTERS of ladies’ football are in for a treat on Sunday when ex-Arsenal and England star Rachel Stowell will line up at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
The 2pm kick off will see Weymouth trying to cope with the talented Stowell who will be playing for big spending Downend Flyers, the visitors in the South West League Premier Division.
Downend pulled off a coup when they persuaded Stowell to play for them and are going all out to try and win promotion out of the South West League.
They have an array of impressive talent to back up Stowell and are led by Kate Michael, who did the damage earlier in the season when Downend beat Weymouth.
Weymouth though, have been playing really well this season and the midfield battle between Stowell and skipper Rosie Sharpe will be worth the admission money alone.
Sharpe will no doubt be keen to prove that she is every bit as good as her illustrious opponent.
Admission is £2 adults and £1 children.
