On-form Aldermaston win again
2:00pm Thursday 14th February 2013 in Hampshire Sport
AFC Aldermaston maintained their 100 per cent start to 2013 in the Hampshire Premier Leaguewith a 1-0 victory over visiting second placed Clanfield last Saturday.
It was a great result after their mid-week Basingstoke Senior Cup exit at the hands of Welly Old Boys.
The home side had the better of the first-half, with Dan Alliston having a one-on-one saved after Liam Tackley and Dexter Skipp combined.
The home side made a slow start after the break with goalie Ben Smith called upon to tip over a good chance.
Aldermaston scored the winner on 55 minutes after a good run down the left from Michael Porter saw him play in Tackley, who fed Kai Parton-Edey to score with a low shot.
The home side could have extended the lead from sub Matty Wilkins, but his 25-yard effort went just over the bar.
Aldermaston boss Terry Rooney said: “We needed to bounce back from our cup defeat. The lads did what we asked of them and it was an important three points and a solid clean sheet.”
This weekend the team are at home again as they entertain fourth-placed Colden Common (kick-off 3pm).
