Overton's winning run comes to abrupt end

OVERTON’S recent winning run in the Hampshire Premier League came to an end on Saturday as they lost 6-1 to high-flyers AFC Stoneham.

The home side never recovered after going 3-0 down after 12 minutes, but they did have half-chances from Harry Rudge and Myles Englefield, before Danny Houseman fired a penalty over.

Just before the break, Overton did pull a goal back from Englefield but after the interval Stoneham netted three more.

Home manager Titch Bloomfield said: “It was disappointing in the manner we lost, but it was an off day and we deserved nothing out of the game.”

Overton will hope to bounce back when they travel to University of Portsmouth this Saturday.
