BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies moved up to second in the Southern League Premier Division with a 3-1 win over struggling Oxford City Ladies at Winklebury on Sunday.

It was end to end stuff in the first-half, with both sides having chances – but it took until 41 minutes for the deadlock to be broken, the visitors going ahead with a fine free-kick.

Town levelled early in the second-half through Sam Mosley and, when an Oxford player was penalised for handball in the area on 68 minutes, Ayala Liran made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Josette Pearmine headed in a corner taken by her sister, Emma to make it 3-1, and that was the way it remained.

Town are in action again this Sunday, hosting Maidenhead United, while they will contest the final of the North Hants Cup at Whitchurch on Tuesday.

The ladies are currently on the lookout for a voluntary first-team coach. The desired applicant should have at least level two coaching qualifications and be available to work with the team at training on Wednesday nights and at games on Sunday afternoons.
