Basingstoke Town manager Jason Bristow's weekly column

WHAT a difference a week makes.

After the disappointing performance and result against Billericay, we have put in excellent performances and got three good results.

The win against Salisbury was fantastic, the draw against Welling was just as good and then we got an important three points against Maidenhead on Tuesday.

We were very unfortunate not to get maximum points against Welling, a side who I think will go on to win the league. We defended well against them and restricted them to just two shots on target, one of them being the equaliser in the 94th minute.

Against Maidenhead we scored two good goals early on and put in a very professional performance. Some of the play was very good.

On Saturday we face Weston, who are a very good side. They play some very attractive football and are chasing the play-offs but it is important we continue this run of form.

We have put in some real team performances recently and that must continue if we are to finish the season strongly.

Two clean sheets out of three is very pleasing and to limit the opposition to only a handful of chances in three games is credit to the players.

When we lost Ross Adams and Jay Gasson to injury we were on the lookout for replacement loans but Rob Rice and David Ray have been outstanding, Nathan Smart is enjoying his best spell of the season and Ben Jefford is also playing well.

Nathan Campbell has come in for the last two games and performed very well, while the whole midfield have been excellent in supporting the front three and the back four. The front three have also been putting in a real shift and helping out with defensive responsibilities as well as leading the attack.

With eight games remaining we are looking to continue this run and finish the season as high as possible. We have some very tough games to play, but the players are in a confident mood and spirit is excellent.

Regards,

Jason
