AFTER two winters out of the top flight, Banister Park are back in the Bramley Bowl.
They sealed their return with a 7-1 (98-70) victory against Rushmoor to guarantee the second promotion spot in the Trisham Trophy.
Neville Scovell (29-13 against Carl Taylor) and Ken Marsh (24-17 against Colin Moore) put the Eastleigh club in control with Rob Bines (27-20) weighing in with a third rink success.
They finished 12 points in front of Havant who lost their final fixture 6-2 (77-76) to Loddon Vale, Eddie Kingswell (21-13) and John Slatter (21-14) getting the Havant points in the tightest of matches.
After being relegated last season Five Rivers carried off the title to make an immediate return to the elite division. Final Trisham points: Five Rivers 46½, Banister Park 41, Havant 29, Loddon Vale 25½, Rushmoor 18.
Winchester-based Riverside have held their place in the Bramley Bowl.
The Winchester club secured a safe berth with a 7½-½ (86-50) pasting of East Dorset, last year’s Trisham champions who are going back where they came from.
Graham Darlison (27-11 against Bob Curtis) and Eddie Bates (23-7 against Dave Vincent) led the Riverside charge with support from George Doig (20-16 against Alan Doughty) while Chris Ralph drew 16-16 with East Dorset's Michael Squires.
Riverside’s salvation means Palmerston are on the downward path.
The Fareham men are bottom after they crashed 8-0 (103-63) to Chawton Park and East Dorset nabbed that half-point to rise above Palmerston on shots’ difference.
Chawton Park's maximum means they retain the trophy and they achieved it in style thanks to Graham Robinson (30-15 against Andy McKain), John Blair (24-12 against Barry Grinaway), David Sims (23-16 against Eric Brierley) and Adam White (26-20 against Neil O'Donovan).
Palmerston will avoid the wooden spoon if they take as much as half a point against runners-up Victory in the final match this weekend.
Atherley were already assured of third spot even before they lost 6-2 (88-78) to Victory. Peter Ward senior (25-13) and Derrick Fulker (24-21) gained the Atherley points but there were defeats for Martyn Wise (26-18) and Andrew Herring (28-11).
