FOOTBALL: Lizard crushed as Cole hits hat-trick
PAUL Cole bagged a hat-trick for Moby Dick’s as they recorded a fine 5-0 victory over the Lazy Lizard.
The powerful forward was a constant threat in the Weymouth Sunday League encounter, which also included goals from Rob Evans and Jason Razzell.
Moby boss Jason Wellman said: “It was an outstanding performance from the lads and hopefully we can continue to build on it.
“We are looking a lot stronger now all over the pitch and have some good forward options, so at the moment it is all looking very encouraging.”
League leaders Bar 314 also enjoyed success against Dolce Vita at Redlands.
Dolce took a shock lead in the clash but a superb header from debutant Sam Nichols and a clinical finish from Chris Skinner soon turned the tables.
The title holders were certainly not at their best in the opening 45 minutes and were perhaps fortunate to be ahead at the break, but there was no doubting their quality in the second per-iod.
The introduction of Kevin Seal at half-time seemed to make the difference as 314 went on to wrap up the victory with two excellent finishes from Sean Hawke.
Dean Taylor also bagged a brace as Alexandra overcame Britannia 5-3. Chris Barber, Kev Paice and Aaron Sharp got the Alex’s other goals while Stu Burley and Antony Carlile, with two, replied for the Brit.
There were also plenty of goals in the games involving Aura and Sailors Return.
Aura thrashed Bakers Arms 13-1 while the Sailors came out on top 6-4 against Broadmayne.
The other game in the division saw Radipole record a 3-2 win over Dolphin. Ethan Devaney struck twice for the victors whose other strike came from Jonathan Lush.
Rob Maxted and substitute Gavin Daniels replied.
