FOOTBALL: Lizard crushed as Grant grabs four
GRANT Chance banged in four goals as Bar 314 demolished Lazy Lizard at Redlands.
The reigning Weymouth Sunday League Premiership champions cruised to a 9-0 victory in the encounter stretching their 100 per cent start to the season to six games.
Another feature of the game was the quality link-up play from man-of-the-match Karl Dean, who also opened his account for the season with the opening goal on 15 minutes.
Sam Nichols and Mike Stone then stretched the lead to three before Chance grabbed his first just before half-time.
The lively striker then went on to bag three more in the second period, which also included two strikes from Chris Skinner.
Bar 314 remain six points clear at the top of the table but their nearest rivals Aura are also looking in good shape and hold a game in hand.
The Esplanade outfit beat Broadmayne 8-2 in their latest outing with a hat-trick coming from Oscar Preece. Adam Scho-field and Teejay-Smith McFarlane were also on the scoresheet.
There was also a big win for Britannia as they moved up to fourth with a 6-1 thrashing of basement boys Bakers Arms.
Stu Burley and Antony Carlile both bagged doubles for the Portlanders whose other strikes came from Kieren Cairnduff and Simon True.
Another 10 goals came in the meeting between Famous Old Spa and Alexandra, which ended with the latter running out 6-4 victors.
Jake Price and Matthew Roberts were the stars of the show for the Alex with four and two goals respectively.
There were also much-needed victories for Dolphin and Market House.
Charlie May’s hat-trick and efforts from Mark Cheater and Chris McIntyre saw the Dolphin overcome Sail-ors Return 5-2, while the House triumphed 3-1 at Radipole.
Overall, 47 goals were netted in this latest round of matches but the highest-scoring weekend in the league this season still stands at 52 goals, which were witnessed on the opening day of the season back on September 8.
