Jan Poortvliet put his side’s 3-0 defeat at Swansea down to a lack of belief in the final third.

Saints never really threatened to get a goal at the Liberty Stadium and have now failed to register in their last three games.

With Saints in the Championship’s bottom three it is now a crucial game against Coventry at St Mary’s on Tuesday night.

He said: “There was no power.

“I had the feeling sometimes we played OK but the end product was not there.

“They made it 1-0 and until that time there had been nothing wrong.

“After that I think they didn’t do anything special in the box and we looked like we could get a couple of possibilities but we were not there to put them in.

“Second half we had the second goal against us and you see we play but there was no belief in scoring, no belief in a better result.”
