THE mystery overseas consortium’s hopes of completing a takeover at St Mary’s yesterday were stunned by the Pinnacle group’s return to the scene.
The worldwide financial services group were initially confident of announcing a deal had been completed after their lawyers had spent two days negotiating with administrator Mark Fry and creditors.
Former Football League chairman Keith Harris – head of Saints’ financial advisors Seymour Pierce – had also been working behind the scenes on their behalf.
But representatives of the overseas group – exclusively revealed by the Echo on Monday as being late arrivers at the bidding table – and their lawyers were totally bemused to find out at tea-time yesterday that Pinnacle, who withdrew from the race on Tuesday, were apparently back in contention again.
Pinnacle’s Tony Lynam exclusively told the Echo last night that “the last 24 hours have been busy, but probably not as busy as the next 24 hours.”

None of these alleged buyers can be taken seriously. I think the administrator must be getting to the stage now where he loses whatever interest he had in selling the club as a going concern, and will just liquidate it to recover whatever he can for the creditors, which is what he is employed for anyway.

Please please somebody other than the Swiss buy our club! I for one dont want Wotte in charge next year as he has allready proved he cant cut it! A good smooth talker but thats about it! I also dont know why he sees Kelvin Davis as a key player and I certainly would not want him as captain again! Look over the past few seasons and the stats and number of goals conceeded and then tell me hes a hero! We need a total fresh look a total rebuild over time as if we continue with what weve got we run the chance of sinking further or at best treading water! Best solution is selling as a going concern not to liquidate the assets as they'll be worth next to nothing - stadium not owned, players out of contract, etc. There are a lot people here who seem to blame Fry at the moment. In an interview with medium The Great Wingo the late Mrs Tein explained how money stored under her bed from the second world war by her and a number of her now dead friends would be used to finance the bids. A number of mediums have been in contact with the administrator who was last night was in a circle holding hands with the five mediums fronting the bid. Experts believe this bid is as likely to succeed as any of the other half baked idiot schemes seemingly on the table

I just think the Pinnacle Group called the Football Leagues bluff. There was a points issue - now the FL has come out and said "No further deduction in the case of Southampton because we have nothing in the guidelines to cover their situation". I think the reace is well and truly on now for anyone to complete - not just Pinnacle. For the doubters amongst you out there - I think the Pinnacle bid is to late - someone else will buy the club for less money along with the guarantee of no further points deduction. Thank-you Pinnacle - we sold two stars for a life line - but got no more deductions. Play-offs here we come? Well I don't think so because this lot will struggle to adapt to 1st Division football - look at our recent Cup performances against sides from this division. So a year of consolidation before the big push in 2010-11. Feel more optimistic this morning - don't know why, but whether a deal is done today or next month...I believe now we will have a team to follow.

Pinnacle have shamed this lot into making it publicly known because if the club goes bust, they will be responsible.Who do you believe on the points issue,MLT or the FL.If the FL are so sure that Saints would not be docked further points, why not announce this as soon as the problem arose. Why wait until Pinnacle have pulled out to announce.Get into your thick heads that Pinnacle were only fighting for your club, and if they pull out of the deal it will be down to the negatives being spouted on here.

I'm sure they must be heartily sick of having to dig up three stories a day to feed to the public and that they must want a deal to be done more than anybody.
People are asking for news, but if the Echo publishes a story which isn't 'Club Sold' then everyone will give them stick for making things up. Likewise, people demand updates from TL, but if he speaks to the press then he's somehow not being professional So how about they proactively go and find some news are do what they are supoposed to new and get some headline news which the public want
