ACTOR Kevin Whatley is no doubt blissfully unaware of a cribbage trophy played for every year at St Denys & Bitterne Park Conservative Club.
The Lewis Shield was named after Inspector Morse’s sidekick, in the long-running ITV drama series – in memory of a forgetful club member who died in December, 2008.
After being introduced to his opponents, Morse fan John Kinchenten would promptly forget their names.
St Denys Cons B captain Fred Wakefield said: “When the game started he’d call his opponent Lewis.”
