BRITISH Cycling's strength in depth was illustrated once more today as world and European champion Dani King, from Hamble, missed out on a team pursuit place at this week's Track World Cup in London.

The team pursuit events begin the test event at the Olympic Velodrome on Thursday evening, with Laura Trott, Wendy Houvenaghel and Joanna Rowsell set to take to the start line in the women's three kilometre event and King left in reserve.

Trott is set to ride in the six-discipline omnium event, with King and Rowsell also competing in non-Olympic disciplines, in the scratch and individual pursuit, respectively.

The four-man, 4km men's team pursuit squad is comprised of Olympic champions Ed Clancy and Geraint Thomas, plus Peter Kennaugh and Steven Burke. Ben Swift and Andy Tennant have been left out, with Swift set to ride in the omnium.

Olympic champions Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton are set to ride in all three sprint events - sprint, team sprint and Keirin.

Jason Kenny, the newly crowned world sprint champion, is poised to ride in the sprint and team sprint.

Kenny and Hoy are poised to ride at man two and three, respectively in the team sprint, with Ross Edgar set to fill the man one position which has proved difficult since the retirement of Jamie Staff.
