Town boss excited by double signing

BASINGSTOKE Town boss Jason Bristow has made a double swoop for the coming season with the signing of winger Jordace Holder-Spooner and midfielder Nathan Campbell.
Holder-Spooner is a lively winger who is sure to excite the fans at The Camrose.
The 19-year-old, who is based in Reading, was part of the Southampton Academy from the age of 14 and signed for Eastleigh in August last year after trials at AFC Bournemouth.
He made his league debut for the Spitfires when he came off the bench against Basingstoke Town in the opening game of last season’s Blue Square Bet South campaign.
He went on to make 12 starts for Town’s Hampshire rivals and also scored three times.
The pacy, powerful wideman’s season was interrupted by a bad ankle injury sustained against Romsey in the Hampshire FA Senior Cup which saw him sidelined him for nine weeks.
Town’s other new signing, Campbell, will add more steel to the midfield. He arrives from Southern League premier division side Totton on a one-year deal.
The 23-year-old helped Totton to third spot in the league and will return to his old club on Friday July 27, when Town face them in a friendly.
It is also no surprise that the giant midfielder, standing 6ft 3ins, can also play at centre-half if needed.
Talking about his latest additions, Basingstoke manager Bristow said: “Jordace is a very talented and exciting young player. He is quick and strong and someone we will be looking to get the ball to in the final third of the pitch.
“He has a lot of potential, and hopefully we can take him to the next level. He is really going to help our squad.”
Bristow added: “Nathan is a very strong, powerful midfielder who will get struck in. He is in the same mould as Stuart Lake, but a younger version.
“We have seen him play a few times. He is strong in the tackle and should do well in our physical league.”
Bristow is still on the look-out for further signings, but wants to make sure he gets the right players for the club and so will not be rushing to sign anyone.
