LIVE - Farnborough v Basingstoke Town
7:32pm Tuesday 9th October 2012 in Hampshire Sport By John Boyman
This live event has finished
9:34pm
FULL-TIME - Farnborough 3 (Tarpey (pen) 44, Makofo 67, Bennett 83) Basingstoke Town 4 (Paterson 12, McAuley 16 (pen), 58, Holder-Spooner 34)
They made it hard for themselves with some sub-standard defending but Town will be pleased to have won and scored four goals.
See Thursday's Gazette for a full report and reaction to the game.
9:30pm
That could have been trouble as a Farnborough corner finds Bradley Fraser - but he can only head wide.
9:28pm
Town have three minutes of added time to survive.
9:24pm
YELLOW CARD - Farnborough - Ben Long
Long is booked after clashing with Stefan Brown on halfway.
9:21pm
GOAL - Farnborough 3 (Bennett 83) Basingstoke Town 4
It's game well and truly on as Dan Bennett latches onto a loose ball and blasts a low shot past Joe McDonnell from 20 yards.
To add insult to injury, McDonnell is then booked for booting the ball into the stands afterwards.
9:19pm
A terrible defensive header gives Jordace Holder-Spooner a clear chance but he can only volley wide of the near post.
9:17pm
Reece Jones fires in a shot from range but it's well wide of Joe McDonnell in the Basingstoke goal.
9:15pm
SUBSTITUTION - Basingstoke Town - Jide Ogunbote on for Shaun McAuley
It's good to see Ogunbote back after a long lay-off. He last played in early May.
9:14pm
YELLOW CARD - Basingstoke Town - Nathan Campbell
Campbell has been testing the referee's patience for a while with numerous fouls and one too many sees him booked.
9:12pm
SUBSTITUTION - Farnborough - Dan Bennett on for Dave Tarpey.
9:11pm
A mistake by Town 'keeper Joe McDonnell almost gifts Farnborough a third goal, Chris Paterson doing well to prevent Scott Day having a tap-in.
The youngster then comes for the resulting corner but is beaten to it by Reece Jones, whose header hits the crossbar.
9:05pm
GOAL - Farnborough 2 (Makofo 67) Basingstoke Town 4
That's a soft goal for the visitors to concede as a corner is headed back from the far post and then into the six yard box for Serge Makofo, possibly the smallest player on the pitch, to nod home.
9:03pm
That's a great save by Farnborough 'keeper Jamie Norris, who somehow denies Jordace Holder-Spooner from close range.
9:01pm
A great Town move results in a great turn and shot by Delano Sam-Yorke, with the ball clipping the top of the crossbar.
8:56pm
GOAL - Farnborough 1 Basingstoke Town 4 (McAuley 58)
That's a good goal, with McAuley breaking from deep, playing a one-two with Delano Sam-Yorke and nicking the ball around the 'keeper before slotting into the empty net.
8:54pm
That's two chances for Delano Sam-Yorke in the space of a few seconds.
First Toby Little's direct run ends in the striker being played in but he is half-tackled and his shot blocked when he probably should have passed.
Then the ball is played back into him and his powerful effort flashes wide.
8:51pm
That's high, wide and not too handsome from Jordace Holder-Spooner, who probably regrets letting fly from 20 yards.
8:50pm
That's a nice cross from the right by Farnborough's Bradley Fraser and Scott Day, who has moved from defence to attack, probably should have got his header on target.
8:47pm
Delano Sam-Yorke beats a man before shooting from the edge of the area, but he did not get hold of that and it's easy for the 'keeper.
8:45pm
The ball fizzes across the Farnborough goal and that's a terrible miss from Stefan Brown. It was practically an open goal.
8:44pm
KICK-OFF - Farnborough get the second half under way. They have made a couple of changes at the break, replacing Josh Huggins and Jordan Merriman with Miles Smith and Bradley Fraser.
8:34pm
Bet it was very quiet when we scored! #BTFC

8:30pm
Half-time - Farnborough 1 (Tarpey (pen) 44) Basingstoke Town 3 (Paterson 12, McAuley (pen) 16, Holder-Spooner 34)
Town have been threatening to score a hatful of late. Could tonight be the night? It's certainly started well but Farnborough have been given hope by that goal just before half-time.
8:26pm
GOAL - Farnborough 1 (Tarpey (pen) 44) Basingstoke Town 3
That's a crazy challenge by Callum McNish, who dives in needlessly on Josh Huggins. It's a clear penalty and Dave Tarpey scores against his old side from the spot, rolling the ball down the middle.
8:25pm
PENALTY TO FARNBOROUGH
8:22pm
Dave Tarpey almost gets in behind the Town defence but Chris Paterson does well to nick the ball away from him.
8:20pm
He's back on now - but doesn't seem to be moving totally freely.
8:18pm
This is a worry. Delano Sam-Yorke is down after taking a knock and needs treatment on the field.
8:16pm
GOAL - Farnborough 0 Basingstoke Town 3 (Holder-Spooner 34)
Nathan Campbell's long free-kick catches the home defence napping and Jordace Holder-Spooner in in behind, rounding the goalkeeper before slotting home.
8:15pm
Town seem to have taken their foot off the gas and are in danger of letting the hosts back into it. Fortunately, they haven't been able to make the most of it.
8:09pm
Josh Huggins lets another shot fly from distance - and it's not too far over. The hosts are on top at the moment.
8:05pm
Another Farnborough free-kick causes problems, with Scott Day rising unopposed - but the ball is just too high for the defender, who can only flick it over.
8:02pm
Farnborough's Josh Huggins lets fly from the edge of the area but it's well wide of Joe McDonnell's goal.
7:58pm
GOAL - Farnborough 0 Basingstoke Town 2 (McAuley (pen) 16)
It seems a soft penalty as Delano Sam-Yorke goes down under a challenge from the aptly named Alfred Bosch, who seemed to get a bit of the ball.
Shaun McAuley calmly sends goalkeeper Jamie Norris the wrong way from the spot to double the advantage.
7:57pm
PENALTY TO BASINGSTOKE
7:54pm
GOAL - Farnborough 0 Basingstoke Town 1 (Paterson 12)
That was a bit easy for Chris Paterson, who rose unmarked in the six-yard box to head Shaun McAuley's corner powerfully home.
7:52pm
The Town formation is 4-3-3, with Nathan Campbell alongside Chris Paterson at centre-back.
7:51pm
Farnborough have made a strong start and go close from a set-piece, David Tarpey just failing to make contact with the delivery.
7:43pm
KICK-OFF - Town get the game under way and immediately have their first shot, Shaun McAuley forcing home goalkeeper Jamie Norris into a low save.
7:42pm
Team news - Town have made several changes to the side that lost at Dorchester in the FA Cup on Saturday, with Toby Little, Simon Dunn and Joe McDonnell getting a run-out in what is a strong team.
Jide Ogunbote's return from injury would seem to be getting closer as he is named on the bench.
Former Town striker David Tarpey spearheads the Farnborough attack.
Farnborough: Norris, Salami, Moody, Bosch, Day, Huggins, Jones, Long, Merriman, Tarpey, Makofo. Subs: Bennett, Fraser, Smith, Inns, Bradshaw.
Town: McDonnell, Smart, Little, Paterson, Campbell, McNish, Dunn, McAuley, Brown, Sam-Yorke, Holder-Spooner. Subs: Rice, Maylen, Charlick, Ogunbote, Warner.
